How can I improve the speed of usb mobile broadband?

Hi,
I have mobile broadband from Vodafone it is meant to be 3.6 GB but I have never got it over 1 GB.I have seen the advertisement on various sites for this Dovado router. Does anyone have one or know someone who has one and do they work?
