Howto: Disassembling the Option 7.2 HSDPA USB Modem: A Step-by-step guide

NOTE: By doing this, you can ruin your modem, and that the guarantee is exhausted.

This modem was very simple to bring up a what Huawei E220 each.
If you have a bit of nail on you, then try pushing in the spring so that you're able to lift the hatch
You can also use something harder like a screwdriver, but it may leave marks and scratches

Once you've loosened the hinges, it loosen up nicely.


After you lift the top lid, it'll look like this.


If you flip it upside-down, it'll look like this.


Note that there is a mini pci express card with the antenna / signalcabels.
So inside of Option Globesurfer Icon 7.2 as it hides itself a Mini PCI Express cards.

Unplug the antenna cables from their fixed points.


Remove the Mini PCI Express Card.


The card is now separated from the slot.

Very nice that it was a mini pci express cards in these models.
They want to say that you can pick out the card and put it in a computer that support it.
There are a number of computers today that is has mini pci express the plates and sim card flat.

A number of different HP such as NC6400 or DELL Latitude D420 has been flat for that.
To do that you can stop in the computer, so do not have the card sitting in the USB port or PCMCIA port.
As it was before, the wlan cards, as it was in pcmcia slot but now built into the computer.

SAnd that it is possible to do so we can get an external antenna when the icon 7.2 modem, so there are indeed antenna connectors.

In the largest of the sheets, I do not know what is hiding where it is soldered in two places you can not lift the outright.
